Sponsored Silence- COMPLETE!

Hey guys!

So I can cross off the 24 hour sponsored silence for Children in Need off the 100 Charities Challenge! I did it yesterday (11/11/2012) and my God it was hard! Seriously. I started off okay but then when it came to your everyday communication, it was pretty tough. And when things fell on me from a shelf, my God it was hard to not curse or speak or anything! I just had to exhale deeply and try not to lose my rag. There were times where I almost slipped up, but I didn't!

If you didn't sponsor me, you still can! Just visit this link or text SHHH55 £1 to 70070. My dear friend, Jess, will be doing it this Thursday and we're sharing the same sponsor page so you're getting 2 for the price of 1 here, people!

If  you're going to do a sponsored silence, here are my tips for you:-

  • Notify people that you're going to/are doing it- I was outside my gran's flat, waiting for her to come back from the shop and her neighbor passed me and tried talking to me... yeah... I tried pointing to my Children in Need t-shirt and miming to her, but it didn't work. Thankfully, my gran came back and told her what I was doing.

  • Get Pen & Paper/ whiteboard & pen- It's hard communicating without your voice and I didn't have either of these things because I just forgot. They are always useful.

  • Advertise what you're doing- Pretty obvious, if you ask me. Don't feel too shy, either. You really need to push yourself. Be it on a social networking site, on your blog, posters in your school/college/workplace, notice in your window- BE HEARD.

So yeah, that's pretty much it! Thanks to all who supported and sponsored me!

Charity update!

So, I've sorted out a few things for next year!

  • Dress as Minnie Mouse for the Day- This will more than likely happen in college so that includes, travel, classes, etc. and it's going to be SO weird but still fun at the same time! If the college say no, then I'll have to do it on a day I'm going out on. I'm doing this in April so I have enough time to be able to hit my target! Sponsor me here. This is in aid of The Joshua Foundation/

  • Dye my hair purple- This is going to be like soon after I do the Minnie Mouse thing. I'm not going to dye all of my hair (you will see why in a moment) but I'm doing it in aid of Cardiff's Women Aid to raise awareness of Domestic Violence. Sponsor me here!

  • Donating my hair- Not all of it! But this is the reason I can't dye all of my hair. You see, they are unable to accept bleached hair and I have to bleach my hair for purple hair, but yeah, I'm donating aprox. 7inches of my hair which won't be dyed. It's kind of like multitasking for my hair! This is in aid of Little Princesses Wig Charity. This is not going to be raising money, but just donating my hair for the charity to make wigs for kids in need of them.

So yeah! That's a little update! It'd be so amazing if you could share this blog wherever possible for people to see what I'm doing and possibly donate!

Thanks so much!

Sponsored Silence- Children in Need

Hey guys!

So my friend and I are doing a Sponsored Silence in aid of Children in Need on Sunday 11th November. The charity helps make a real difference to children's lives across the UK. You can find out more here about the charity.

I've done quite a bit for the charity in the past and I'll still keep doing a lot for them.

If you'd like to sponsor myself and my friend, please visit this link or text SHHH55 £1 to 70070.

Thank you so much!

Fundraising ideas!

So, here are some ideas I have come up with so far for me to help charities. I don't know whether I'll do ALL of them, but I'm definitely doing some! If you have any ideas, let me know! Or, if you're planning to do something for charity but don't know what, feel free to use some of these ideas! They've all been done before and who says they can't be done again?

  • Sponsored Walks
  • Car Wash
  • Variety shows
  • Sponsored Swim (my dad was a lifeguard so he'll train me)
  • Dye my hair a different colour (suggest a colour!!!)
  • Walking dogs for people
  • Boot sales
  • Make cards (My gran and I will do this together)
  • Give blood (I have to check if I'm eligible because some medications stop you)
  • Grow my hair to donate
  • Veggie Bush tucker trials
  • Sponsored PJ dahy
  • Sponsored dance for the day
  • Movie night with friends
  • Volunteer at charity shops
  • Make and sell wristbands
  • Sell things online
  • Sing what I say for the day (I did this when I was little)
Let me know if you have any ideas!

Thanks to all who's retweeted what I'm doing so far- the support has been amazing! Please share this blog wherever you can!

Thanks guys!

Introduction :)

Hi there!

I'm Jazmin and I'm 17 from Wales, United Kingdom. I'm writing this blog separate from my personal blog because I want to keep track of what I'm doing.

You see, I love helping charities. A hell of a lot. Ask anyone who knows me well. So, one bored and random night, whilst on my laptop, with charity events I am organising just running around in my mind, I decided "hey. Why not set myself a challenge?" And I did. The challenge? To help 100 charities within 12 years. Now, it might not seem so bad, but remember- I'm 17 years old and in college. I have a family, friends, work to do. I have things that will get in my way, but I've had enough of not being able to help everyone and so I'm going to do it. Whether it's an event, being sponsored, making and selling things, anything! And I don't have to do it alone. I have an amazing family who I'll have backing me up and some awesome friends. I also have my own project, Inspire, which I created and part of the project is to help charities, so that will play a big part in my challenge.

I won't back down from this. I want to do it so much and if I don't, then I'll be so disappointed in myself. I'm not going to give myself an exact deadline, but in 12 years from now, I want to be around 100 charities and if I'm close, then so what? I'll just work those extra few months to finish up. If I don't reach my goal on time, then I just move my time. Why? Because charity doesn't have a limit. There's always someone who needs to be helped.

It'd be amazing if you could support me. If you know of a charity you think I should help, please let me know! If it's local to you but not near me, it will be hard but I'll try! I'm not writing out 100 charities and that's that- I'm just going to help charities I know/find on my way. It's a pretty flexible challenge, but it's still needs me to do it. So I will.

I'll keep you updated here and on my Twitter so keep checking!

Thank you for reading and I hope you will support me.
